The Global Head of ORR Assurance Practices and Americas Risk Steward Delivery Lead will be responsible for designing and maintaining globally consistent leading practices and tooling for impactful, effective and efficient assurance across Operational & Resilience Risk (Second Line of Defense), including use of automation, automated testing and data analytics.

The role will provide subject matter expertise and support to the Operational and Resilience Risk (ORR) Leadership Team LT, ORR colleagues. In addition, the role will aid ORR in discharging their risk steward assurance responsibilities in the Americas.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing practices for use globally by c. 400 risk stewards and contributes to standard assurance methodologies across HSBC and align to and influence other assurance providers’ practices
  • Develop, implement, maintain, monitor / report and improve assurance practices and enterprise tooling (integrated to Helios, the HSBC Operational Risk system of record) for Global Operational and Resilience Risk Stewardship, including Resilience Risk controls; ORR positions itself as developing leading / highly progressive assurance practices, that are impactful, timely, effective and efficient providing a voice for timely Second Line of Defense escalation
  • Develop / produce impactful but simple timely Management Information for Operational & Resilience Risk Leadership, regarding assurance coverage, timeliness, value and adherence to practices; segmented by Leadership Team Accountabilities and Legal Entities
  • Establish and maintain schedules for delivery of Operational & Resilience Risk opinion across ORR globally (including Americas)
  • Influence Second Line of Defense standard assurance methodologies and tooling across HSBC (Risk Stewards and Designated Assurance Functions)
  • Drive continual improvement to practices and tooling for assurance, including Impact assessment of changes
  • Deliver impactful and effective training and communications for assurance practices and tooling, communicating simply
  • Promote use of automated testing and data analytics techniques for assurance
  • Identify thematic reviews for the Americas and globally based on internal and external observations, trends emerging, or stakeholder requests and support leading and delivery of Thematic Assurance as required
  • Drive embedding of assurance practices, service catalogue, and supporting tools across ORR in the Americas
  • Provide prioritization, co-ordination, reporting, and escalation of work performed by Risk and Compliance Assurance Utility for the Americas and support development of test scripts where required. Provide ongoing direction, challenge of review terms of reference and reports and, provide quality assurance to ORR LT member of the controls assurance work delivered
Requirements
  • Proven experience and recognized leadership of assurance / audit activities and techniques in complex Financial Services organizations / Big 4
  • Deep understanding of Non-Financial Risks faced by complex Non-Financial Services organizations
  • Relevant external financial services credentials (e.g. CIA, CPA, ACA, ACCA, CISA)
  • Experience in developing and deploying automated testing, tooling and data analytics techniques
  • Experience of process mapping and delivering professional reports and presentations gained within a Financial Services Organization or Big 4 audit/consulting practice.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships whilst influencing, providing adequate challenge and effecting change
  • Proficient in English, both oral and written; recognized as a skillful communicator and influencer
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Visio
  • Experience of use of design thinking and agile techniques is desirable
