Job description

As the Senior CAO Business Manager, you will support the regional CAO/COO in the development and creation of standardized processes and practices to ensure that the Risk and Compliance US function operates efficiently and effectively. A key focus of the role would also be to serve as a gateway with HOST, Finance, HR, and local Risk and Compliance sub-functional heads on business support related matters.

 

You will also interact and co-ordinate with a number of global, regional stakeholders including the COO community and respective Risk and Compliance sub-functional leads and their respective teams. The Business Manager is expected to tap into the functional global owners, the CoE or the regions to enable delivery of a consistent suite of reporting enabling achievement of business management objectives for the assigned area/region.

You will be responsible for:

  • Business and Financial Management
    • Leading delivery of AOP targets for assigned Risk and Compliance sub-function
    • Giving input into the AOP process
    • Handling requests for exceptions from approved plans
    • Managing the direct and indirect Operating Expense of Risk and Compliance
    • Charges to the lines of business
  • People and Resourcing
    • Headcount management including governance of resourcing process
    • Oversight of HAT/WMS system as it relates to assigned area/region
    • Facilitating implementation of People related transformation initiatives as assigned
    • Maintenance and governance of Blueprint for assigned area/region which includes job catalogues in partnership with HR
    • Making key strategic decisions on FTE spend against business commitments based on excellent understanding of the Risk and Compliance strategy
  • Governance and business support / administration
    • Ensuring the Risk and Compliance sub-function complies with Business Continuity Management requirements
    • Management of consultancy approvals and spend for the assigned area/region
    • Management of SLAs between assigned area/region and the COO
    • Developing and manage collaboration with key business partners (HR, Finance, Communications, Procurement) where applicable
    • Leading offshoring initiatives in line with Global strategic direction;
    • Leading the streamlining activities for governance forums, and aligned with the Group’s Ways of Working initiatives;
  • Leading special projects in line with Global Risk and Compliance initiatives and strategic priorities (e.g.  Offshore Migration, TPRM Governance, ServCO, OM)
Requirements

 

Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions 

  • High degree of expertise and knowledge in relation to all business management activities.
  • Experience of financial and business planning within an international banking environment or within HSBC
  • Strong understanding of external banking environment – regulatory, political and competitive
  • Understanding of HSBC Group and its strategy.
  • Solid knowledge in relation to quality assurance and audit within a risk management context
  • Strong awareness and understanding of HSBCs internal control and operational risk environment
  • Excellent understanding of the purpose, values, culture and fundamental framework of Risk and Compliance, as well as the broader HSBC organization
  • Demonstrated results in delivering material success and results in terms of budgetary management, cost management and financial planning.
  • Demonstrated results in delivering performance improvement, successfully applying innovative thinking.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing customer and stakeholder issues in a matrix organizational context
  • Global project management experience.
  • Strong understanding of evolving risk environments.
  • Experience of line management and prior direct reports in a similar matrix environment
  • Definition, Identification and Implementation of Best Practice
  • Business Planning and financial management: Cost Optimization, AOP, ROP, etc.
  • Ability to translate strategic business management goals into delivery schedule of activities, and manage outputs successfully
  • Innovation and Implementation of global methodologies
  • Strong understanding of Operational Risk management
  • Implementing and managing a uniform approach to operations procedures, issues, requirements and problems associated with each one
  • Strong strategic vision.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication abilities to effectively work with other colleagues and stakeholders within the bank
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to enable effective communication at the most senior levels
