As a Risk Assessment Manager, you will be an integral part of the team responsible for proactively analyzing global financial crime risks, trends, and topologies. The role holder undertakes high-level sectoral, jurisdictional, and risk assessments, presents findings to Bank partners in well-crafted written products and presentations, and support strategic decision-making across all lines of Business.

You will be responsible for:
- Pre-emptively and proactively assisting in identifying financial risk through data and qualitative analysis
- Producing timely and concrete analysis to help mitigate risk related to financial crime
- Collaborating with analysis and investigations teams to address and communicate financial risks globally
- Analyzing HSBC data, tactical analysis reports, and investigations output, as well as open sources—such as press, industry, and academic reporting—to identify emerging risks relating to financial crime
- Authoring high-level strategic assessments of financial crime risk facing the bank, including forecasting and horizon scanning for emerging trends stemming from broader geopolitical or economic factors
- Tailoring analytical production for an executive audience by distilling sophisticated, tactical information into high-level assessments that can be digested quickly and efficiently
- Collaborating across functions and business lines to build a full picture of risk, including previous and current tactical analysis, applied analytics, and investigations production
- Developing a reputation among partners as a thought leader in a given topic by interfacing early and often and making frequent in-person presentations of analysis
- Setting priorities and make day-to-day decisions independently
- Escalating matters to senior management as needed
- Demonstrating a thorough understanding of policies and procedures pertaining to the role
- Communicating optimally and professionally, and conveying the key information needed to ensure goals are met
- Ensuring compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues. - Maintaining HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
- Communicating control weaknesses to other group leaders and business management in accordance with issue escalation procedures
- Establishing reputation as subject matter expert among partners and bank executives
- As appropriate for the role, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, the Compliance of FIM, HNAH’s BSA/AML Policy, other Group policies and all related policies and procedures
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze data and qualitative information to draw solid conclusions about risks facing the bank, as well as strong writing skills to present complex analysis in an easily digestible form
- Self-starter with strong interpersonal, organizational, decision-making, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality and adhere to established deadlines
- Proficiency with personal computers and pertinent mainframe systems and software packages
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
