Business Finance and Analytics Manager

Business Finance and Analytics – Insurance Business Finance Department

Hang Seng's Financial Control function works closely with the Bank's stakeholders, including business partners, shareholders, regulators and external examiners. We function as their accountants and business partners in providing comprehensive information on financial management, financial planning, financial reporting and compliance, capital planning and reporting, financial control & SOX control, tax advisory, insurance finance, and treasury and investment finance.

Insurance Business Finance Department (“ISF”) is a business finance function supporting HASE insurance activities and we are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our department as Business Finance and Analytics Manager.

Principal responsibilities

• Actively engages with the key Business partners to support the understanding of the Business
• Maintain the accuracy and timeliness of management reports and analysis for senior management of Bank, or Group by customer groups, product types or forms requested by management and identify high risk areas or key issues to the business and make recommendations where appropriate
• Builds and maintains effective relationships with key local and global stakeholders like management of Bank, Group Insurance and business units to ensure effective communication and accurate interpretation of Business Finance information or analysis
• Track, analyze and forecast both the direct, intercompany recharge and indirect cost spend to budget and evaluate the recharges and overhead cost which were allocated to different insurance products
• Thorough understanding of the recharge mechanism, in collaboration with both upstream and downstream to provide monthly cost analysis and insight to identify and drive opportunities to improve cost effectiveness
• Produce the financial plans/budgets jointly with the business and other supporting function like actuarial function, including monthly latest estimates, the annual plan and strategic planning activity
• Work and oversee effectively with both onshore and offshore team, to maximize the available onshore business partnering time

Requirements

• University degree in Accounting or Actuarial Science, with a related recognized professional qualification
• Minimum 10 years' accounting / audit experience in sizable organizations, with exposure to insurance companies and with knowledge of insurance products. Exposure to financial institutions or knowledge in actuarial principles is an advantage
• Independent, ability to work under pressure and in changing environment with strong communication, interpersonal and people managerial skills
• Strong business sense, coupled with good business partnering and ability to work collaboratively with different stakeholders
• Solid analytical skills complemented by astute financial and business acumen
• Sound knowledge of application software
• Proficiency in both English and Chinese
• Candidates with less experience will be considered for the position of Assistant Insurance Finance Manager
