AMG Data Operations Team address all the required data support to Front office team to ensure business is as usual, and support effective several key responsibilities.

The team support a data management suite of services and applications to provide high quality information to AMG functional platforms on a global basis.

The team provides business as usual data quality measurement and remediation.

The team provides oversight for the local AMG data management functions and AMG data operations staff based in Bangalore

The Opportunity: (Brief Overview of the Role)

The purpose of the role is to provide effective data management to AMG’s various front office teams. Data management, in this context, refers to ensuring that data required for and utilized by AMG’s front office is of a suitable quality and available when required by the front office personnel, systems or processes.

The candidate will have to interact with regional front office teams and must understand the key areas of an investment management business, including data management specific areas but not limited to the instrument / security data used by the order management system (OMS), flows to the OMS (e.g. subscriptions, redemptions) and the effects of corporate action events on holdings and instruments (e.g. dividend payments, stock-splits, mergers, etc.).

To demonstrate and support the AMG business globally, requires the candidate to provide the information basis for strategic planning by the senior management for businesses and enable effective decision making to satisfy business needs and requirements along with addressing unforeseen challenges.

The role is based in Bangalore and reports to the Head – AMG Data Management. Ability and experience with working in multiple geographies directly in the regions will be more suitable considering the specific requirements and versatility of the role.

What you’ll do: (List out Key Responsibilities)

  • The role demands a highly motivated, pro-active approach to data management with excellent communication skills and a keen attention to detail. Candidates should have experience of the investment management industry, significant data management experience, be highly numerate and able to come up with solutions to unanticipated problems where required (ideally drawing on industry expertise and prior experience).
  • The primary purpose of the role will be to ensure that the Front Office(FO) data requirements are met with high quality and deliverables are achieved within the framework. The FO should have a seamless experience and should face minimum issues with Data.
  • Data management knowledge should include a thorough understanding of investment management data-sets including transactions, holdings and instrument data-sets.
  • Sees the 'bigger picture' and assesses relationships between solutions / projects and business performance.
  • The candidate should have a functional understanding of the investment management end-to-end trade life cycle, specifically from a front-office perspective. Knowledge of corporate actions processing, stock lending, investment restrictions (including sanctions) and experience with order management systems (specifically, Bloomberg AIM and Charles River (CRD) would be advantageous.
  • The role demands building lasting and trusted relationships with front office stakeholders (including fund managers, analysts, desk assistants and production support staff and demonstrating to said stakeholders that the data management support offered by the role understands their needs from a data perspective.
  • Adherence to the global policies and standards within all projects, processes and outputs.
  • Ability to manage multiple work-streams simultaneously, effectively prioritizing personal and team workload and actively seek guidance for wider priority decisions. Should be flexible to work as an Individual contributor or/and team manager.
  • Maintain accuracy and completeness in all outputs, processes, systems and communications as an integral part of delivery
  • The candidate will also be expected to achieve results through influence and persuasion as well as exercise direct authority.
  • The candidate will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
  • The candidate will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
  • This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with regulators.
  • To maintain HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role: (Minimum Qualification and Skills Required)

  • Candidates will need to be able to communicate with a wide variety of front office stakeholders (often with widely varying preferences for communication styles and mediums) in a manner which demonstrates credibility as front office data management and builds confidence in the global data management function. The role will be responsible to assist the manager in developing the agenda and contributing to the overall solution proposal that needs to be reviewed with the FO to ensure that BAU process is progressed.
  • The role will entail working with internal and external stakeholders such as Custodians/sub-custodians etc. and other investment operations personnel within the group.
  • Work with internal and external audit and ensure that the framework is implemented and maintained.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and work well with peers at the Front Office.
  • Support to develop a culture committed to the delivery of outstanding customer service and healthy, open, transparent, honest team environment.
  • Encourages the sharing of knowledge and information across teams and leverages from experience and learning from others
  • Establishes goals, success criteria and performance measures to evaluate the success of major strategic initiatives
  • Work with the local management to deliver FO requirement through collaboration and team-work

   Additional skiils:

 

  • At least 8+ years’ experience within asset / investment management firms/roles. Preferably 4+ years’ work experience in the areas of Investment Operations such as Corporate Actions postings (Voluntary and Mandatory), Cash Management Activities, Position and Cash reconciliations and Securities Data Exceptions Management.
  • Strong technical skillset as relating to data management and front office support work including sound understanding of front office tools and systems (OMS, decision support tools, databases, etc.)
  • Specific technical skills including SQL, programming languages, VBA, etc. are not essential but highly advantageous
  • Familiarity with data platforms such as Bloomberg, Reuters, IDC etc. will be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Charles River Database (CRD) or any other Order Management System will be advantageous
  • Familiarity with Data repositories such as Bloomberg POLARLAKE or CADIS will be advantageous
  • Familiarity with transaction lifecycle engines such as Smart Stream Reconciliation and Transaction Lifecycle Management will be advantageous
  • Engage with various stakeholders on SIT and UAT
  • Effective communication and strong analytical skills is a must
  • Effective Stake-holder Management is a must
